{"id":846,"date":"2010-10-27T08:01:14","date_gmt":"2010-10-27T12:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.biguglymandoll.com\/?p=846"},"modified":"2010-10-27T08:01:47","modified_gmt":"2010-10-27T12:01:47","slug":"bragging-about-my-dad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.biguglymandoll.com\/?p=846","title":{"rendered":"Bragging About My Dad"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Because it&#8217;s unseemly to brag too often about my massive ego, which other than this shiny blog is the only thing about me, personnally, worth noting, so I tend to talk about the kids and whatnot.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>So, the other day I had a great conversation about my father, talking to a friend at work about getting older.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Friend:\u00a0\u00a0 My Dad ran the Army 10-Miler last weekend.<\/div>\n<div>BUMD:\u00a0\u00a0 Hey, so did mine!<\/div>\n<div>Friend:\u00a0 How old is he?<\/div>\n<div>BUMD:\u00a0 Just turned 67!\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Friend:\u00a0 Mine&#8217;s 75.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>BUMD:\u00a0 That&#8217;s amazing!<\/div>\n<div>Friend:\u00a0 Yeah, well.\u00a0 Did your dad *know* he was running the Army 10-Miler?<\/div>\n<div>BUMD:\u00a0 Yessss&#8230;<\/div>\n<div>Friend:\u00a0 Yeah, well.\u00a0 Mine didn&#8217;t.\u00a0 Ran pretty well, though, seemed to enjoy it.\u00a0 Had to have someone running with him to keep him on course&#8230;<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>But seriously, running 10 miles?\u00a0 I asked my father if he&#8217;d won, after the race.\u00a0 The answer was both yes and no &#8211; he didn&#8217;t cross the finish line first, but he met his personal goal, which he listed as &#8220;crossing the finish line at all.&#8221;\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>This, now, I can relate to.\u00a0 We all have goals.\u00a0 Mine are more along the lines of &#8220;still being on this side of the dirt&#8221; when I&#8217;m 67 years old &#8211; actually <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">running<\/span> over that dirt would be gravy.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Mmm, gravy.\u00a0 Now I&#8217;m hungry.\u00a0 But anyway, congrats to my dad and all the rest of the folks I know who ran last weekend!<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We all have goals.
