Those of you who\u2019ve known me in the flesh, so to speak, may be surprised to hear that I\u2019ve cut back on the amount of caffeine I consume each day.\u00a0 Some of you who remember me from my 26-cups-a-day youth might wonder if \u201ccutting back\u201d means \u201c20 cups a day.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Believe it or not \u2013 and my devotion to absolute veracity and objectivity is well established \u2013 I\u2019m down to one cup in the morning.\u00a0 Some days I skip even that.\u00a0 I realize some of you may need to lay down now; I hope I haven\u2019t shocked anyone too badly.\u00a0 The truth is, I no longer need to climb across the ceiling with my teeth every single day, and with much less caffeine, I\u2019m not as hungry all the time \u2013 it\u2019s helping with the diet too.<\/p>\n
This being, of all the odd things to commemorate, the 200th post here at the Big Ugly Man Doll, I figure it\u2019s incumbent on me to liven the topic up with a short song.\u00a0 And yes, you may be assured that I sound exactly<\/strong> like Roger Whittaker when I sing it.\u00a0 (After all, my devotion to absolute veracity and objectivity is well established.)\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Everybody talks about just one cup in the morning.\u00a0 \/\u00a0 Just one cup in the morning does you good.<\/em><\/p>\n I, myself don’t talk about just one cup in the morning. \u00a0\/\u00a0 One cup in the morning\u2019s understood.<\/em><\/p>\n And I can smell a pot of coffee brewing up.\u00a0 \/\u00a0 And I smile as go to get my cup.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n No-one better call before my one cup in the morning.\u00a0 \/\u00a0 If I haven\u2019t had my coffee, just shut up.<\/em><\/p>\n I met a man who hadn\u2019t slept since he was twenty.\u00a0 \/\u00a0 I met that man when he was twenty-one.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n He said he needed more than only one cup in the morning, \/ don’t he know that Starbucks is open?<\/em><\/p>\n And he would put a pot of coffee up to brew. \u00a0\/\u00a0 And when he smiled his hands would shake and he looked all screwy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Everybody talks about just one cup in the morning.\u00a0 \/\u00a0 One cup in the morning\u2019s understood.<\/em><\/p>\n And I can smell a pot of coffee brewing up.\u00a0 \/\u00a0 And I smile as go to get my cup.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
