I’m adding yours to the list of questions women have asked about men over the years, and I will answer them all in turn – to continue to demystify the more malodorous gender for those of the gentler.\u00a0 Actual questions, posed by real women, and answered by a REAL man. Question:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 What is it with you guys and bacon? <\/em><\/p>\n Answer:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I’ll confess I was going to write something with great righteous\u00a0indignation, along the lines of “Oh yeah? Well, what is it with you ladies and purses?”\u00a0 Then\u00a0I remembered… \u00a0the bacon weave<\/a>.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n I may have to go with righteous\u00a0indigestion on this one.\u00a0<\/p>\n We know from holy scripture that “There are no two finer words in the English language than ‘Encased Meats,’ my friend.” (Hot Doug, Letters to the Chicagoans, $3.16.)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And we know, because I’ve told you before, that pig is yummy – it’s a good reason to go to Alabama<\/a>, for instance.\u00a0 So, yes, I have been known to stock up on bacon.\u00a0 And by stock up, I mean walking into a butcher shop and walking out with 40 pounds of it.\u00a0<\/p>\n It’s not just meat!\u00a0 It’s thick, juicy meat, with nice smoky flavor, and it will take whatever you do to it – brown sugar, cayenne pepper, you name it.\u00a0 Bacon is life.\u00a0 So, men are<\/strong> pigs, men eat<\/strong> pigs, men love<\/strong> pigs\u00a0– it all makes sense.\u00a0\u00a0 You know, somewhere.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Now you know.
