It’s Friday, and that means answer time! For those of you who have commented with questions from previous ManFAQs, thank you. I’m adding yours to the list of questions women have asked about men over the years, and I will answer them all in turn – to continue to demystify the more malodorous gender for those of the gentler.\u00a0 Actual questions, posed by real women, and answered by a REAL man. What could go wrong?<\/p>\n

Question:<\/strong>\u00a0 Why do guys always twist your words around when you make a suggestion to them to make something that’s already\u00a0great better?\u00a0\u00a0 What we say:\u00a0 “It’s already really great but here’s a thought to make it better.”\u00a0 What they hear:\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>“So, you’re telling me it sucks?”<\/em><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Not unlike falling into the manhole of comedy<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0criticism is when you tell me how to make it better.\u00a0\u00a0 Constructive criticism is when I tell you<\/strong> how to make it better.\u00a0 Really, whatever it is, we don’t want to hear that it’s not 100 percent perfect because not because we did it, built it, thought of it, or are overly proud of it.\u00a0 We don’t want to hear about how to improve on it because\u00a0we’re bored with it already, we’re done, finished, moving on.\u00a0 We’re lazy, really, and if you think you can make it better, go ahead, because it’s Miller Time, baby – he did his part.\u00a0 You’re dealing with intellectual ADD here – let’s go ride our bikes!\u00a0<\/p>\n

Besides, he only sees in binary – it’s either awesome or it sucks.\u00a0\u00a0His team won or they lost.\u00a0 The ball went\u00a0through\u00a0the hoop, or posts, or\u00a0net, or it didn’t.\u00a0\u00a0 Hi it the mark or he missed it.\u00a0 We live every day with the\u00a0certain\u00a0knowledge that\u00a0walking across the moors of fate, we find only\u00a0<\/strong>the singular flame of eternal glory\u00a0or the dark swirling mists\u00a0of perpetual obscurity – there is no middle path.\u00a0 If it’s not already awesome, as Harry Chapin’s brother Tom once told him:\u00a0 “Harry, it sucks.”
